Welcome to Kurrara Designs Studio, a textile art and craft platform to display my portfolio of work and provide, information, teaching and guidance on a range of art and craft processes and techniques.
I love working with fabric and paper to create a range of useable, wearable and decorative items and my favourite things to do include natural dyeing with plants, dyeing with Procion MX dyes, machine embroidery, mixed media surface design, die cutting and card making, Examples of which can be found in the Gallery
I really enjoy combining these techniques in my work and many an afternoon I’ll lose track of time, when I’m sewing or dyeing, as I’m so absorbed in the moment! When I’m demonstrating, I love to share what I do and see people’s eyes light up when they design and make something new, using a technique I’ve taught them. Often, they don’t think they can do it, but when shown and encouraged, it’s amazing what they can create.
Now, at Kurrara Designs Studio I can offer ongoing textile workshops to help you get those creative juices flowing, with personal tuition in small, friendly and informative groups, in an idyllic rural setting here in Red Hill, on the Mornington Peninsula, near Melbourne.
You’ll find information on workshops and I will be regularly updating tips and articles to inspire and inform you on all things arts and craft.
